Excerpt from 1998 Artist Statement”\:

"I am fascinated by the ways in which art making is able to simulate a reality that can be manipulated to explore underlying cultural assumptions. I have been particularly interested in investigating how cultural codes are mediated through electronic technology and manifest themselves in our attitudes and behaviour. Have we become a culture whose information and ideas are given forms solely by electronic images? Have we created a new form of representation that irreversibly impacts upon our definitions of reality and identity? In Generation, a barrage of images and sounds repeat and overlap, mirroring the insidious bombardment taking place in our use of current visual and electronic technologies." This video was made with the intention of including it in the Legacy installation as well.
